Volkswagen ID-ERA-5S is a Mid-size car sold by Chinese electric car exporter Brabus (Volkswagen’s official authorized dealer).

The Volkswagen ID. ERA 5S is the first sedan in SAIC Volkswagen’s ID. ERA family, positioned as a “German-engineered, intelligent hybrid family sedan.”
Exterior Design
Adopting the Bauhaus principle of “form follows function,” the design replaces complex lines with clean, pure surfaces. The front fascia features an active air intake grille, a full-width light strip, and an illuminated logo. The side profile showcases a fastback silhouette with semi-recessed door handles, while the rear incorporates a subtle “ducktail” spoiler. Small blue indicator lights on the side mirrors and taillights serve as markers for its advanced intelligent driving capabilities. The vehicle comes standard with 19-inch wheels and an expansive panoramic “starlight” glass roof.

Vehicle Positioning: A mid-to-high-end plug-in hybrid sedan, inheriting the legacy of three generations of iconic family cars: the Santana, Lavida, and Passat.

Dimensions: 4836/1880/1505 mm (length/width/height); wheelbase: 2766 mm.

Powertrain: 1.5L plug-in hybrid system, offering a CLTC-rated pure electric range of 160 km, a total combined range exceeding 2000 km, and a fuel consumption of 2.82 L/100 km when operating in a charge-depleted (hybrid) state.

Intelligent Driving: Equipped with the “Xingyun Zhixing” (Cloud-Motion Intelligent Driving) system, which supports both urban and highway NOA (Navigate on Autopilot). The system was custom-developed by CoreTech  based on the Horizon Robotics “Journey” series chips.
Powertrain and Efficiency
Features the “Golden Super Hybrid” system, comprising a 1.5L engine specifically designed for hybrid applications paired with an electric motor. According to test data from the China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC), the vehicle achieved a pure electric range of 207.5 km (a 129.6% achievement rate), a total combined range of 2033.8 km, and a combined fuel consumption of 1.25 L/100 km. It supports fast charging from 30% to 80% in approximately 15 minutes and includes a 3.5 kW V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) external power discharge function.

Intelligent Cockpit and Autonomous Driving
The vehicle features the “Yunqi” (Cloud-Inspired) intelligent cockpit, with a 15.6-inch 2.5K central touchscreen and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P chip as standard across the entire lineup. Autonomous driving is a key highlight: the Pro Pilot and Max versions are equipped with the “Xingyun” (Cloud-Navigating) intelligent driving system. Powered by an end-to-end large model, this system supports features such as urban and highway pilot assist, traffic light recognition, autonomous lane changes, and multi-level memory parking, while also including high-speed Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) functional up to 140 km/h.
Safety and Quality
The vehicle body consists of 86% high-strength steel—with 30% being hot-formed steel—and is equipped with 7 airbags. Its development adheres to Volkswagen’s global standards, encompassing over 8,000 rigorous validation criteria and extensive “two-winter, two-summer” extreme-condition testing.
